Do you have an Elf this Christmas?

I must admit I am not familiar with the Elf on the Shelf I only see them all over my newsfeed. My little guy is only 2 so I asked for some help on this post from some fellow facebook moms. My friend, Leah, told me the idea is that the elves watch you during the day and report to Santa, and they get into mischief during the night. Leah said, "I use Pinterest quite a bit for inspiration, and just adapt the ideas. There is a pin about " hacking" your elf; you insert wires into his arms and sew Velcro on his hands." Leah has 2 girls and said she always really loved Christmas and was so excited to share that her children! The girls absolutely love it, especially the oldest. Leah said that both of her girls can't wait to get out of bed in the morning, they race to find the elves and see what they've done, and they tell everyone that we see all about it all day. Here 5 year old firmly believes that the elves are moving around at night, and really believes in Santa, which she loves! She started with the original elf on the shelf two years ago, she brought home the book and customized it a bit to their family. Because part of the elf on the shelf story is that you can't actually touch the elf, she got her oldest daughter a plush elf that arrives on Thanksgiving and her job was to take him everywhere and teach him about Christmas and share the things she does, and what she knows about Jesus, etc. Last year she added another elf and another plush elf, for their youngest. Here is a photo of her newest elf. "I really like this elf, it already has wire in it's limbs, so it is easier to maneuver. I got it at TJ Maxx."

I found the official Elf on the Shelf website http://www.elfontheshelf.com/ and love the ideas on their page. As a photographer, I love the Part of your Family photo. And I found that I can adopt an Elf locally. Maybe next year my little guy will be ready for an elf. Love, Dedication and Team work help Mary's Elephant win the Spirit of Relay Award! We were honored to be part of an amazing Relay for Life team called Mary's Elephants on June 21, 2014. Clicks for a Cause ran a fundraising photo booth and were taking event photos as there didn't seem to be an official photographer in sight to capture this touching event. Do you believe that things no matter how big or small they seem at the time happen for a reason? During Aprils service the Pastor gave a beautiful speech about a caterpillar and it's struggle in to become a butterfly. It really touched our family as he related it to April's journey. He talked about how Aprils struggles with her health issues helped shape her into the beautiful women she was. As much as her family wanted to take her pain away it was her journey. It was only fitting that Pastor Steve married me and Rick 9 months later wearing a Butterfly Stole. We released butterflies in memory of lost loved ones and specifically April, who lost almost 25 year battle with Cystic Fibrosis, my business partner Juli who passed away unexpectedly at age 33 due to an unknown heart issue, my Grandfather who died in the line of duty as a Fireman and Rick's maternal grandfather who died when Rick was little. Check out the BUZZ Anita created for Relay

Well I am almost lost for words from Anita's Head Shave Event last week. I was seconds from tears the entire event. Seeing Anita and others doing such a selfless thing for such a huge cause! Anita is on a mission to let others know about Relay for Life and tell the stories of those in her life touched by cancer. The event was such a huge success. The VooDoo Brewery was a cool venue and the band, Bishop Road, was awesome! Heather the hair stylist did such a great job keeping everyone smiling and calm when they were getting "shaved". I was excited that Anita and her event made her local newspaper, The Meadville Tribune. The event had 7 participants and raised over $1300 in donations. She also was able to get one of the local county commissioners to shave his mustache for his families Relay for Life Team.
